Fall Break

Last week was Fall Break for Cherokee County. Whoever came up with this schedule, I think it's great! I love my job because I have the same schedule as the girls'. I needed a break this month!

Tommy's mom came to town for a visit. We had a great time! We went to see a movie, went shopping and a fun trip to good 'ol Chuck E Cheese. The weather was great too. I have to say I'm a bit envious of my friends at work coming home from cruises and Disney trips, but one day we'll be there!

We went this past weekend to stay with our fantastic Sunday School teacher's kiddos. They are great. We had a great time with them :)

Tommy's birthday is Wednesday. He'll be 33! The girls and I have a special night planned for him tomorrow when he gets back in town. They love surprises!

Doggie Drama

Poor Max.

Ok, so we've had some doggie drama. A few weeks ago, Max hurt his leg...we have yet to figure out exactly what he did to hurt it. It was initally sprained, but turned into a fracture. I took him back to the vet after he's hobbled for a couple of weeks now and the x rays showed a break through both bones in his leg. Soooo, the first fix is to try to cast it for 4-6 weeks and if that doesn't work, the vet said he'd need surgery. We DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!! An orthopedic doggie surgeon will cost us over 1200.00....that's a negative!

The fun part is that I GET to make sure that his cast stays dry. So, every time he goes potty, I have to cover it with a bag...are you kidding?!? I have to laugh, or I'll cry!!

Faith

Faith is doing much much better...so much better that she has really been a handful today! I'm thinking all her energy has been laying low until she got better and we got a weeks worth of her silly craziness all in one day! I'm still glad to have my silly sweet girl better!! Thank you so much for all your prayers :)

God is good

God is so good. He is forever faithful. Even though I doubt, question and get angry, He always provides. I just want to say, I love YOU Lord!

I'm not too good at this...

Well, let's see...I'm doing pretty good...posting about a month at a time! :)

Let me back up a bit...

These are the events for August **what a month!**

1. First and most important...my sister Sarah GOT SAVED!! She also got baptized!!

2. Tommy got a kidney stone...almost exactly a month to the day that I had mine in Oklahoma. This was sooo crazy! Of course, he claims that his pain was MUCH worse than mine!! Actually, he apologized for not being more sympathetic when I had mine.

3. My baby started kindegarten!! Faith has been a champ and LOVES her new teacher! I really really thought she still NEEDED me, but she proved me wrong...no tears on the first day! She's already had her first "pepper rally"

4. Alex started the 5th grade! Geesh...I'm really feeling old! She has also done great. She now has 5 teachers. She is in advanced classes as well. I'm a proud mama!!

5. My fantastic husband, being obedient to the Lord stood up in front of our Sunday
School class of about 50 people and gave his testimony!! I cried the whole time!! I had to sneak a couple of pics so that he would believe that he really did it :) What a blessing!

Let's see, school has been in for 3 weeks now and Faith has missed 6 days!! She has been home all week due to a severe bacterial infection. She has had a very high fever for the past week. We have been in and out of the Dr office several times. We finally ended up in the ER yesterday. They were concerned that she had an abcess in her throat. They did a CT scan and Praise God, she did not have one. They have started her on a heavy duty antibiotic and so far she has been fever free all day! YAY!!

Whew! We have had a nonstop August!! I keep saying that we are ready for things to settle down, but it is one thing after another. One praise is that Tommy has been home for the whole month. I really miss him when he's gone!

I am really happy that football season has started. I got tired of being irritated with Tommy about his obsession with college football and decided to join him last year. It was so much fun!! Last year was a blast because it was SO unpredictable. I am looking forward to keeping up with it all with my buddy and rooting for our Sooners!!

Date Night!

Tonight I get to go on a long overdue date with my honey bunny. He has had to be out of town a lot this summer...I'm sure you remember me whining about it earlier... Nothing too fancy, probably just dinner and maybe a little shopping. The girls are going to a friends house. Tonight will be Alex's first friend sleepover night. She has had friends over here, but this will be her first night at a friends house. So, we will see how that all pans out! I have some exciting news about my sister Sarah that I hope to be able to share soon. I'm just awaiting her permission to spread the good news!!

where has the time gone??

Ok, so I'm trying to catch up on a few things and I have just now gotten back to my poor neglected blog. Things have been crazy the past month...

1. Had a GREAT week with my awesome sister in law Sarah and my neice and nephew
2. My dear Aunt Laura passed away VERY unexpectedly
3. Made a trip to Oklahoma for her funeral with our girls
4. Got VERY sick with a kidney stone while there
5. Tommy had to catch a flight out there so he could drive us home
6. Got home at 430am on a Sunday morning after driving all night
7. Had to spend the day unpacking, washing and repacking clothes for church camp...had to be there at 730am Monday morning
8. By this point, I'm beyond exhausted...
9. God knew what would blow some wind in my sails...I had 10 girls in my group at camp. 4 of them made a decision for Christ the FIRST NIGHT!!
10. Survived camp (it was pretty fun actually) and now back on track with work and finishing out summer
11. My husband had to leave to go out of town AGAIN...this makes the 6th week he has been gone since the first of June...Lord help me!! :)

So, that is what we have been up to since my last posting.

I really have a lot to say about each point, but it would probably take a day for you to read it! God is so good...there is a praise in each point too. I really try to look at difficulties in a positive light. One thing about working at our church is that I am constantly humbled when I read the daily prayer requests that come in. Life could be so much harder. I am so thankful to have the precious people in this home. I wouldn't be the same without them!

I LOVE YOU TOMMY, ALEX AND FAITH!!!!!!!!!!

Broken Toilet

Let's see...this week really started off with a bang...

I have really been missing my dear husband...in case you haven't heard already...and then we got word that he has to be gone all this week too. Problem is, his sweet sister Sarah is in town with my neice and nephew. He really felt terrible and was dreading leaving town yesterday. So, me trying this new role that God is totally having to show me how to do, was a respectful and supportive wife and did NOT have a pity party. I love Sarah dearly, but it never fails with his job for things like this to happen. Tommy's poor family hardly ever gets to see him as it is, so she drove 900 miles to see him and he has to leave. So, I put my big girl pants on and sucked it up.

The only request I had is that he fix our toilet in our master bath before he left. It has had a slow leak and got the point that it ran continuously. That's where it all went downhill. Satan knows right where to get ya. He went to Home Depot on his way home from work and picked up a 4.00 kit to replace the inside of the tank junk. So, my handy fix it hubby went to work. He took the tank off, replaced the junk inside and screwed it back together....WA~LAH!!! It was fixed! We turned the water back on and it was completely fixed!! Then, he thought he'd tighten one more screw...and it was all over...the tank busted and water shot EVERYWHERE

Alex, Faith and I are running around like we've lost our mind not sure what we should do...Alex grabbed a hand towel and handed it to Tommy. **bless her little heart** I grabbed all the towels we had upstairs to soak up the water.

Why, oh why, did that have to happen? That totally put a damper on the positive spirit I had. Tommy left ticked off and so that's been the start of our week. I meant to take a picture of the damaged toilet, but thought it might be too difficult to look at after such an awful event!!!! LOL

So, my honey bunny is in Nashville, but we had a good time here. We went to see Evan Almighty at the theater for free. It was great!! Can't believe I haven't seen it yet. Really convicted and touched my heart. Even though it was a silly story, it reminded me of how many times I make up excuses not to be obedient to God. If it is something that is in His will...He can move heaven and earth to make it happen. It also remided me of how personal God is. Morgan Freeman did a great job with that part showing how He gently but firmly at times guides my path. I try to do it on my own far more than I should.

Father's Day

Today is the day to celebrate Dads. I wanted to take the time to talk about two of them I know personally...

First is MY daddy. He is such a fantastic Papa to Faith and Alex. The LOVE to see their Papa. It is sad that he lives so far away, but he is always close in our thoughts. My Dad is someone I can call when I am upset about something. He has a gift for remaining calm and I feel better when I get off the phone with him. I know that my Dad would stand behind me and catch me if I were to ever fall. The best thing about my Dad is to watch him with our girls. Love you DAD!!

The second Dad is one I know the best. He is my soulmate and I could not have asked for a better Father to my children. It has been incredible to watch him over the years evolve into who he is today. He grew up without a father at home, so all he is today is what his Heavenly Father has taught him. I can't imagine life without him...he truly is the head of our household. I already can't wait until we are grandparents together...I know that sounds strange, but I can't picture my life without him! Our life together had been a journey that I wouldn't have changed for the world. You are a fabulous man and I want you to know how much your 3 girls think YOU rock!! Love you honey!

Dinner at ATL Airport

Wednesday, my Dad, Cathi and brother Andrew flew through Atlanta going home from Florida. They had a layover at our airport, so we got to go have dinner with them while they were waiting for their flight. It was only a 60 minute visit, but anytime we get to spend with them is great! We REALLY miss our family back home...shout out to you Okies!!! We are really going to miss Papa's country 4th of July party this year :( We love you guys!!!

Fun in Nashville

Here's some pics from our trip...the first is when I tried to get a pic of the girls at the Rainforest Cafe with one of the elephants. Alex was worried that it was going to move and get her when they sat up there. Just as I was about to snap it, it moved and she caught it out of the corner of her eye...her face is priceless!

The second one is at the museum and the third is also there when the girls got to do their first flight simulator...Tommy was jealous!

The next one is Tommy feeding the stingray...probably the one that bit him!

The last is of us at the Opryland Hotel....so pretty!!

Missin Daddy

The past two weeks have been kind of a bummer around here. When Tommy is out of town, our family is off balance. He has been in Nashville for the past two weeks. We took a quick trip up there to visit him and had a really good time! We went to the Opryland Hotel, the Science Adventure Museum and Opry Mills Mall.

The mall was so cool. We went to two unique restaraunts there. One was the Rainforest Cafe. Inside, you could not see the walls or ceiling. It was completely covered with trees to look like a real forest. There were animatronics along the walls to look like they were in the jungle. Those kinda freaked the girls out if they got too close. :) They also had a thunderstorm every 30 minutes...we had fun! We also went to the Aquarium restaraunt in the same place on a different night. That was awesome! They had a floor to ceiling aquarium and you were surrounded by tons of salt water fish while you were dining. Very relaxing!

The girls also got to go and pet and feed stingrays. All of this was at the same mall!! That was quite an experience. Only Tommy and Faith were brave enough to actually feed them. Me and Alex thought it was just as dangerous to stick our hand in the water and touch them. Of course, we can't go anywhere without some sort of catastrophe. Tommy got bit....see why I didn't think I should have been feeding them?? We really had fun.

Now we have been home all week doing VBS at our church. That has been tons of fun! Today was the evangelistic service and a lot of kids went down to receive Christ....what a blessing! I am teaching a 3rd grade class and this week has gone extremely well. God has truly been using me to speak to these kids.

Tommy comes home Saturday...just in time for Father's Day! We love you Daddy!!!

First time blogger here...

Ok, for some reason, I feel the need to try something new on here. Tommy is really gonna love this...

I've been getting kinda hooked on looking into blogs and interested in other people's thoughts...I'm sure no one will be interested in mine ;) But, I thought this could be a good place to keep family up to date on the latest happenings in our busy, crazy world that we like to call "home".
