Softball has begun!

I am so pumped about watching BOTH girls use their talents and strength to play softball.  They are getting in a LOT of practice time and there are more games this season but it is awesome to see their hard work and dedication pay off.  They are both on great teams with fantastic coaches who take a personal interest in each girl and work on their strengths and weaknesses.

Their first official games were this past Saturday.  They both WON THEIR FIRST GAMES!!!  Faith did an amazing job playing catcher and tagged a girl out who was coming home and also hit the ball every time she was up to bat!  Alex put her all into her game and stole bases all the way home to get a point for the team!  Alex's age group is pretty intense since they have to learn play codes and are stealing bases like crazy!  So much fun!  I also love to see them cheer each other on when they are watching the other play.

I will post pictures soon...

My Baby's Birthday

My baby turned 8 years old on Monday.  I used to look forward to birthdays but with Alex getting ready to be a teenager next month, birthdays are now bittersweet to me.  It is a reminder that they are getting older each day and God is preparing them for a life away from Mama and Daddy.  That breaks my heart.  Although Faith has informed me of several different scenarios about her future:

  • She would like to live in the house across the street from us.  Alex and her husband would live next door to her.
  • She would like to live with us after she is married.
  • I guess if neither of the above works then she said she needs for us to have at least two extra bedrooms so that her and her husband would have a room to come visit as well as her children with their own room.
I love it.  She's still at the age where Mom and Dad are still the coolest and she never wants to leave.  Coming very soon is the age where Mom and Dad are so not cool and she will be worried that we will embarass her in front of her friends.  :)

Faith has for the second year not wanted to have a birthday party with her friends.  She didn't want cupcakes for her friends at school.  She simply wanted a family day.  Love it!  She is not a fan of crowds and I don't think she likes the pressure that birthday parties tend to put on the birthday girl.  So, I picked her and Alex up early and we had a girls date at Kani House.  She LOVES Kani House and it is certainly a place for a special occasion.  We then met Daddy at Mountasia where we got a steal on entertainment!  With all of my coupons that I printed online, we played 18 holes of mini golf, 3 rides on the go karts for less than $20.  She also got $10 in FREE tokens for the arcade and a FREE $6 souvenier cup of coke!  Awesome!!  We had a great time and then came home for pizza, cookie cake and ice cream.  She told me several times that it was the best birthday ever.  *I've heard that for the past 5 years*  Her love language is Quality Time and Physical Touch....I think she got her tank pretty full!!

I love that girl.  She is a delight to me and I am honored to be her Mama.

Happy 8th Birthday Faith!!

God. Is. So. Incredibly. Good.

Wow.  I am not such a faithful blogger it seems!  After being at work, tending to the kids and the house I don't have much free time for the computer any more.  It is almost St Patricks Day and I am just now changing my Christmas blog background!

A lot has happened of course.  My mom has bought her first home as a single woman and has moved closer to our house.  A mile to be exact.  It is nice to have her closer not only in distance but also in relationship speaking as well.  :)

Both girls have started playing softball.  This is the first time I have had more than one child in sports at the same time.  Both are having a great time and working hard to learn more at each practice.  I will be happier when it is warmer though!

This past weekend, the Lord blessed Tommy and I with an unexpected getaway on a marriage retreat in Rome, Georgia.  We went to Winshape Retreat and it was incredible.  I have never been to a place like that where the presence of God was so strong and thick.  You are told right when you get there that you have been prayed for, the room you stay in is prayed over and every aspect of your stay is covered in prayer.  The owner of Chick Fil A owns the property and the staff who work there are incredible.  The best part of the weekend was that it was a time to completely unplug from the distractions of life to focus on God and your spouse.  No TV's, no phones, no worrying what to eat or fix for dinner.  Just you, God, your spouse and nature.  It was the most beautiful weekends we have ever had to connect, renew and refresh.  God really did a work in our hearts and in our marriage.  I am blown away at how the Creator of the Universe is so intimately involved in the details of our life.  He is amazing.  He is worthy of ALL PRAISE.  My love for Him went to an incredibly deep level with what He did for us.  I am so thankful that He has allowed me to be married to my best friend.  I wouldn't trade Mr Baker for anything in this world.
